Become a Loyno Abroad Storyteller

Cross legged student

Your story is one of the most valuable things you can share. Loyno Abroad Storytellers are student volunteers who share aspects of their experiences with our social media audiences as their adventures abroad unfold. Storytellers participate in virtual events and provide content for use in Study Abroad promotional materials. If you’d like to amplify the impact of your experience and inspire others while you’re abroad, this opportunity might be for you! We welcome all interested students to apply. We particularly encourage applicants from underrepresented identities and diverse backgrounds.

Benefits

In your roles as a Loyno Abroad Storyteller, you’ll  have the unique opportunity to build your resume, portfolio and social media following as you support fellow students in their study abroad journey.

Who you are

You are creative, motivated, and curious. You understand that stories are powerful and are eager to tell yours in your own voice while documenting your time abroad. You're a Loyno student enrolled in a semester long study abroad program and would like to provide other students with an authentic perspective.

What you’ll need

  • A public Instagram account
  • Time. Ambassadors commit to the semester that they’ll be abroad
  • A handheld device (smartphone, tablet)
  • A laptop

What You’ll Do

As a Loyno Abroad Storyteller, you’re our local expert and, as such, a great resource for prospective study abroad students. You’ll provide a small glimpse into your daily life and respond to student inquiries. All storytellers will follow our @loynoabroad Instagram account and appear on the Study Abroad website as a contact for students with questions. Storytellers can participate in the following ways:
Create visuals for social media and promo materials
Contribute 150 unedited photos to a photo library
Contribute edited video content of beautiful, curious and/or banal encounters in your everyday life to photo library

OR
Engage with our audience directly on Instagram
Tag us in your posts and stories AND
Do an Instagram takeover or other event (must be planned in advance with SAA))

In addition, storytellers commit to participating in one CIE Sponsored Event during their semester abroad.
This may include any of  the following:
  • Virtual student panel (i.e. Q&A session, identity abroad, what I wish I had known, etc.)
  • Virtual Coffee@CIE event
  • International Education Week event
  • Study Abroad 101 session
  • Scholarship info session (i.e Gilman, FEA)
  • Program or location specific programming
