Come celebrate New Year’s with us on the Arabian Sea! The J-term in India program takes students to Goa, India, the site of the first Jesuit excursions on the subcontinent and home to the famous Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site housing the mortal remains of Saint Francis Xavier. While exploring the renowned beaches and welcoming villages of Goa—India’s smallest state—students will become immersed in the world’s largest, most heterogenous democracy: with a population of nearly 1.5 billion, India encompasses over twenty spoken languages and six major religions alongside a robust secular political tradition. Students will wrestle with questions of global justice in the classroom and discover centuries-old artifacts of colonial encounter across the region. On top of an exciting variety of cultural excursions, there will be ample time for independent exploration.
