The University and LocationAustralian Catholic University (ACU) is a publicly-funded Catholic institution with 30,000 students spread across six campuses in five different Australian cities. International students primarily study on campuses in the cities of Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. The majority of international students study at the Mackillop campus in North Sydney. ACU offers Loyola students courses in a broad range of fields, including business, science, and art and design. Loyola students study alongside national students to experience Australian culture to the fullest extent.
ACU North Sydney – A five-minute train ride over the famous Sydney Harbor Bridge from Sydney’s city center, this friendly, multicultural MacKillop campus hosts a student body of 3,600 with the largest population of international students.
ACU Strathfield – With a student population of 5,300, this historic Mount St. Mary campus is situated in Strathfield, one of Sydney’s older suburbs. It is a 20-minute train ride or an 8-minute shuttle trip from Sydney’s city center.
ACU Brisbane – The spacious Mcauley campus is home to 4,500 students. Situated in a suburb named Banyo, it is 7 miles from the center of Brisbane, Australia’s fastest growing city known for it’s coastline and sunny blue skies.
ACU Melbourne – St Patrick’s campus hosts 7,200 students in Melbourne, a vibrant metropolis known as a cultural melting pot. Set on the fringe of Melbourne’s CBD, the modern campus is a easy walking distance from many of the city’s popular destinations.
Loyola students who meet all of the necessary pre-requisites will be able to enroll in classes from any of the four ACU Faculties. A list of the Faculties and specific courses (called “units”) offered can be found here. Descriptions of individual units can be found by clicking here. Credits and Grading
Loyola students will take 30-40 credit points (12–16 Loyola credits). The average course load is 3-4 courses per semester.
The following grade conversion chart is approximate:
Fall Semester (Semester 2): End of July – end of November
Spring Semester (Semester 1): February – end of June
The international student enrollment and orientation takes place for a couple of weeks before the beginning of the regular semester. All students are required to participate. Finances and Budgeting
Please refer to the BUDGET SHEET. Typically fall and spring terms are estimated to cost the same. A full year is estimated to be double the cost of fall.
Housing and Meals
