French Language, Culture and Business Summer Program

ESCE Summer Program provides the opportunity for participants to learn the French language while understanding the essential roots of  French culture and business practices through gaining knowledge of two emblematic industries: Wine and Fashion/Luxury Goods.

The Location

ESCE is located in La Defense, France. The campus is close to the head offices of large French and international business firms. Located just outside of the Paris city limits, this economically vibrant area is recognized as the largest business center in Europe.

Central Paris is easily accessible by the Metro public transportation system. This prime location allows students to take advantage of the abundance of cultural and historical sights Paris has to offer!

Courses

Classes are held Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. The following courses are offered in Summer 2012.

9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.:

French (Beginning, Intermediate or Advanced) (4 credits)

 

2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. (Choose Two):

The Art of Wine and the Globalization of the Wine Business (1 credit)
Fashion & Luxury Goods Marketing (1 credit)
French Culture and Identity (1 credit)


On Thursday afternoons cultural activities are held in combination with the courses. All cultural activities are designed such that students can take part in a mixture of activities providing views of the French culture and traditions. Activities include but not limited to: Visiting museums or opera houses to learn the history, strolling around the local neighborhoods and learning about French customs, visiting a patisserie and learning traditional baking practices, tasting French wine and cheese from different regions to learn about the distinctiveness of each region of France, and visiting governmental sites to learn about the French political system.

 


Housing

Accommodation within the proximity of the school is available upon request for participants. The pre-reservations are made at a private Residence building within 5 minutes walk from the school building. The studio suites at the Residence are about 18 to 20 square meters large and they are available in either single or double occupancy.

 

The studios consist of: One or two single beds, towels and bed linens provided (cleaning service once a week), a study desk, a kitchenette, a private bathroom attached per studio, a high speed internet connection, a phone line can be opened free of charge (free incoming calls – outgoing calls are charged according to the current rates), and laundry facility in the building.

 

The cost of housing for the duration of the program is 740 euros.

 

Meals

Meals are not included in the program price. 

 

Program Costs

The tuition fee is 1,850 Euros which includes the following:

  • Application fee
  • Orientation session
  • Welcome lunch and farewell ceremony
  • Light continental breakfast on the days there are classes
  • Weekly cultural activities and visits
  • Access to the gym at the school (upon request and a doctor's certificate)
  • Student card
  • Official transcript of grades
  • Tuition fee (3 courses – 87 hours in total)
  • Computer accounts at the school
  • Access to the school library
  • School building facilities and services
  • Certificate of participation

The program fee does not include airfare, passport or visa, housing, meals, or personal expenses.
