Apply to Become a Study Abroad Peer Advisor
The mission of CIE is to promote the internationalization of Loyola New Orleans by initiating, developing, and supporting a wide range of international and intercultural education opportunities for members of the Loyola community. CIE works with faculty, staff, and students to promote and develop the international character of the university, and is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and promoting all aspects of international education including education abroad and programs and services for international students and faculty.
Required Qualifications
- Enrolled as a student at Loyola University New Orleans
- Available and committed to the Peer Advisor role for the full Academic Year
- Able to work an average of 10 hours per week (some weeks may require more or fewer hours)
- Able to attend ongoing Peer Advisor training arranged during work hours
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed a Loyola or ISEP semester or year long program
- Posses previous experience with graphic design, especially in Adobe Photoshop and/or InDesign
- Possess previous experience in marketing or advertising, especially market research, digital/social media
Peer Advisor Roles and Responsibilities
Peer Advisors act as ambassadors of Study Abroad both on-campus and virtually by providing information and increasing student awareness of Study Abroad and CIE. Peer Advisors support the Study Abroad Advisor (and the Director as needed) in the following tasks and responsibilities:
Student Advising (all)
- Provide preliminary advising to students who are beginning to explore Study Abroad options
- Respond to basic student inquiries and manage advising appointment requests
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct in-person and virtual Study Abroad advising and information sessions
- Assist with other advising tasks as directed
Office Administration
- Process office documents and maintain student Study Abroad files (both online and physical)
- Maintain Study Abroad website by updating program links, resources, and information
- Maintain the Education Abroad Resource Library and locker storage
- Keep workspace clean and well organized
- Assist with other office tasks as directedEvent PlanningPlan and assist with Pre-Departure Orientation and Re-Entry events
- Plan and assist with the Fall Study Abroad Fair and the Spring Education Abroad Fair
- Plan and coordinate social activities for CIE’s Cultural Connections program (for international students)
- Assist with other event tasks as directed
Marketing & Outreach
- Pitch Study Abroad in classroom visits and student organization meetings
- Create and distribute promotional materials like flyers, posters, handbills, etc.
- Staff info tables in the Danna Center and other campus locations
- Maintain effective social media presence and develop relevant content
- Coordinate, conduct, and edit Study Abroad podcasts for publication
- Assist with other outreach tasks as directed
