Global Ambassadors

The main function of a Global Ambassador is to act as a student representative, sharing their experience of study abroad.  Ambassadors assist with study abroad related events, social media, meet with interested students, and a act as guides or mentors throughout the process. Global Ambassadors are not only an extension of our Peer Advisor team but also an extension of the Center for International Education. 

Responsibilities

The anticipated requirements and time commitment for Global Ambassadors are:
  • Mandatory orientation and training in September
  • Attending a 1 hour meeting 2x times throughout the semester
  • Attending at least 3 CIE events per semester 
  • Assisting CIE staff with events and other outreach initiatives
  • Assisting with the general marketing and promotion of study abroad at Loyola
  • Responding to student queries about our program, host country, or general questions via e-mail or even face to face
  • Giving presentations to classrooms, residence halls, and student organizations addressing the benefits of study abroad
  • Staff information tables in the Danna Center
  • Provide experience, insight, and information to peers about the study abroad process
  • Represent the CIE responsibly, accurately ,and professionally

Examples of Involvement

  • Classroom and organization presentations
  • Representing your program at Fall and/or Spring  study abroad fairs
  • Helping or hosting  a table at the Country Fair in the fall
  • Tabling in the Danna Center
  • InBus participation (attending 2 group events per semester)
  • Help students applying to scholarships such as the Gilman or LaNasa
  • Work on a project of your own design. supervised by the CIE

Desired Qualifications

  • Students with any study abroad experience, including summer and semester
  • In good academic standing with atleast a 2.5 GPA
  • Enthusiastic about and committed to sharing their experiences
  • Actively Involved in the Loyola community through fraternity/sorority, honor societies, and other student organizations
  • Interested in developing leadership, communication skills, and public speaking skills
  • Able to make atleast 1 semester commitment (preferably 2)
  • Ability to advise students in a professional, open, truthful, and responsible manner while representing the CIE’s policies and mission

Being a Global Ambassador is a voluntary experience . However, there are many benefits to this position.
